The Challenge
A Canadian leader in the residential lighting and electrical industry turned to Polaris Public Relations when it needed to close a plant. To remain competitive, the company needed to eliminate operational inefficiencies within the organization, allowing it to focus on core competencies. The decision was made to consolidate three warehouse operations into a single distribution centre. However, this decision also resulted in the elimination of a number of jobs and had the potential for negative publicity in the local community and further afield.
Polaris PR Strategy
Polaris PR developed a variety of materials to effectively communicate the announcement to employees, customers and media. Support materials were also created to support front-line managers and the company spokesperson. The goal was to maintain the company’s reputation while dealing with employees in a humane and professional fashion.
